Weightlifting team returns
Bahrain’s national weightlifting team returned home yesterday after winning 19 medals on the concluding day of the Third International and Fourth Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Doha, Qatar.
The delegation was welcomed on arrival by Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) General Secretary Abdulrahman Askar and other high-ranking sports officials from the Bahrain Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Federation and the committee.
Bahrain’s medals included six gold medals won by Hamad Khalid (94kg and 105kg), silver medal by Abdulla Yahya (56kg), three silver by Yousef Al Shirawi (85kg) and three bronze medals each for Ahmed Yousef (85kg), Hassan Ali (56kg) and Ebrahim Fadel (105kg).
The team was coached by Abdulreda Abdulla, who said he was pleased with the overall performance and outcome of his team in the championship.
Bahrain delegation head Ali Abdulla Fakhro’s efforts were also lauded by Askar.
