Colin Bonghanzen edges out Jan Stiak by 2.458 seconds in Bahrain, setting up exciting season

Colin Bonghanzen claimed victory in the second race of the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East, held as part of the Bahrain 8 Hours of Endurance at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.

This victory sets a thrilling tone for the Porsche Carrera Cup season following an opening round that saw Bonghanzen and Jan Stiak trade wins in the first two races.

Bonghanzen, driving for the Karttec Motorsport team, managed to overtake Stiak and secure first place by a narrow margin of 2.458 seconds in the 12-lap race on the Bahrain International Circuit’s Grand Prix track.

The first race of the opening round, held yesterday, witnessed a close battle between the two drivers, with DH Racing’s Jan Stiak emerging victorious before losing out to Bonghanzen in the second race.

Porsche Junior GB driver James Wallis secured third place on the podium in the Pro category.

In the Pro-Am category, Saudi Racing Team’s Saud Al Saud claimed first place, followed by teammate Khaled Al Ahmadi in second, while AF Racing’s Alexandra Vateva finished third.

Mike Mim, who delivered an exceptional overall performance, secured first place in the Masters category and fifth overall, while Petr Brecka finished second and Mark J. Thomas came in third. With this race, the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East has completed another round and will resume on the track on the 29th of this month for its second round.

Throughout the final day, fans enjoyed the various activities on offer, including the open paddock, pit lane walk, and autograph session with the World Endurance Championship drivers, which was very popular among the attendees.

Fans were able to take numerous photos with their favorite drivers and enjoyed the various entertainment activities, making it an exciting day for all.

The World Endurance Championship continues today, Sunday, November 3, with practice sessions. The sessions will take place in two parts, from 10 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 4 pm.

A host of future motorsport stars will be participating in these sessions on the Bahrain International Circuit.
