Bahrain begins Davis Cup campaign with decisive win over Bangladesh

Bahrain’s national tennis team took a solid first step toward their goal of advancing to the Group IV Asian Qualifiers of the Davis Cup. On Wednesday, Bahrain secured an emphatic 3-0 win over Bangladesh in their opening match of the Group V Asian Qualifiers, held at the Bahrain Tennis Federation courts in Isa Town.
Dominant Performances
The day began with Elias Abdulredha setting the tone with a resounding 6-1 win against Bangladesh’s Mohammed Hanif Manna in the first singles match. Yusuf Qaed followed with a hard-fought victory in the second singles, overcoming Zareef Abrar 2-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, officially clinching the match for Bahrain.
The doubles match featured the Abdulredha brothers, Elias and Hassan, who delivered a stellar performance to defeat Bangladesh’s duo, Zareef Abrar and Mohammed Rustam Ali, 6-3, 6-1, completing Bahrain’s clean sweep.
Other Group Highlights
In the same group, Yemen also secured a convincing 3-0 win against Tajikistan. Yemen’s Mohammad Maki and Ghassan Alansi dominated their singles matches, while the duo of Alansi and Alhasan Ishaq secured a flawless doubles victory.
Looking Ahead
Bahrain will face Tajikistan today in their second match of the tournament, aiming to strengthen their chances of reaching the semi-finals before a potentially decisive match against Yemen on Friday.
All matches are being held at the Bahrain Tennis Federation courts at Bahrain Polytechnic in Isa Town, starting at 9am
