Bahrain’s national basketball team clinched a crucial victory against Syria, defeating them 76-71 in the Asian qualifiers for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.
The thrilling match, held at Khalifa Sports City, witnessed a strong turnout of enthusiastic fans. Bahrain dominated the first half with an impressive display, leading the first quarter 26-16 and extending their advantage with a 22-12 second-quarter performance.
Syria mounted a comeback in the second half, winning the third quarter 23-19 and taking the fourth 20-9. Despite their efforts, Bahrain’s commanding early lead secured the victory.
Ahmed Salman was the standout performer for Bahrain, scoring an impressive 35 points. Wayne Chism contributed 17 points to the team’s tally. On the Syrian side, Hardy led with 21 points, while Nadim Issa added 14 points.
With this win, Bahrain continues its push for qualification. The team will next face the UAE in the fourth round of qualifiers on Monday, November 25, in Dubai.
