Bahrain 2024: Para Taekwondo Poomsae Stars Poised to Dazzle

A historic championship unfolds in Manama with record-breaking participation.
The stage is set for a groundbreaking moment in Para Taekwondo history as Bahrain prepares to host the inaugural World Para Taekwondo Poomsae Championships. Scheduled for November 26-27, the event will feature 140 athletes from 23 nations, along with Individual Neutral Athletes, marking the highest participation ever for this standalone championship.
Among the competing nations are powerhouses like Croatia, Great Britain, Colombia, Mexico, and Australia, whose athletes will showcase precision, skill, and focus across the P20, P30, P50, and P70 categories.
For Bahrain, this championship serves as more than just a competitive platform; it’s a statement of intent to inspire future champions while fostering inclusivity and excellence on a global stage.
A Pioneering Championship
This inaugural event is more than a milestone for Para Taekwondo—it is a critical step toward inclusion in the LA 2028 Paralympic Games. The remarkable participation highlights the growing appeal of Para Poomsae and Bahrain’s leadership in advancing adaptive sports.
Para Taekwondo Committee Chair Usman Dildar commended Bahrain’s efforts, singling out His Excellency Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa for his visionary leadership.
“Bahrain’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in sport is unparalleled. This championship is a celebration of perseverance and unity, laying the groundwork for Para Taekwondo’s evolution on the world stage,” Dildar remarked.
He also praised the organizing committee and volunteers, whose dedication has ensured the event's success.
A Global Celebration
Athletes from five continents will convene in Bahrain, making this championship a global celebration of adaptive sports. The event, livestreamed on World Taekwondo’s YouTube channel, promises to captivate audiences worldwide with its inspiring displays of determination and athleticism.
As Bahrain welcomes the world, the championship symbolizes more than medals—it embodies progress, resilience, and the unyielding spirit of sport.
