India's Shreyas Iyer Sold For Record $3.17 Mn In IPL Auction

India's Shreyas Iyer smashed Indian Premier League auction records on Sunday when Punjab Kings paid 267.5 million rupees ($3.17 million) for his services, a live broadcast showed.
"Shreyas Iyer receives the biggest IPL bid ever," the IPL said on social media platform X. The bid for Iyer, 29, who captained Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL crown this year, beat the 247.5 million rupees Kolkata paid to Australian Mitchell Starc in December 2023.
