The inaugural Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Military Shooting Championship, hosted by the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) and organised by the Military Sports Union, is set to commence tomorrow morning.

The competition will feature military sports federations from the GCC member states, including the host nation Bahrain, alongside the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, with each country represented by 22 participants.

The championship aims to enhance military sports within the armed forces of GCC countries, elevate the standard of military shooting, foster healthy competition, and strengthen camaraderie and connections among armed forces personnel.

The event includes several competitions, such as rifle plate shooting, pistol plate shooting, machine gun plate shooting, warrior competition for officers, and warrior competition for personnel.

Trophies will be awarded to the first-place teams in each competition, along with an overall excellence cup for the highest-scoring team across all events. Medals will also be presented to the top three winners in each competition.

The draw for the event took place yesterday, followed by open training sessions, which continued today.
