Real Madrid's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed that star forward Vinicius Junior will return from his hamstring injury ahead of schedule. Initially expected to miss out until the Intercontinental Cup final on December 18, the Brazilian winger will now be available for the Champions League clash against Atalanta next Tuesday.
Vinicius, who suffered the injury in November, was able to resume training earlier this week, signaling his rapid recovery. Ancelotti stated that while the 24-year-old won't be fit for this Saturday's La Liga fixture against Girona, he will be ready for the crucial European match.
"Vini has recovered from his injury very well. He will not be ready for tomorrow, but he will be for the next Champions League game," Ancelotti remarked at a press conference.
The return of Vinicius is a much-needed boost for a Real Madrid side that has faced challenges in the Champions League, currently sitting 24th in their group after three losses in five matches. The forward's recovery also offers hope for the team's European aspirations.
In addition, Ancelotti provided an update on defender David Alaba, who is also working his way back from a knee injury and is expected to return in January.
With Vinicius out for much of the early season, there has been growing pressure on summer signing Kylian Mbappe to deliver. The French forward has struggled with form recently, missing crucial penalties in losses to Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao, leaving fans and analysts questioning his impact since his high-profile move from Paris Saint-Germain.
