Strong field set to compete in Bahrain Turf Series 2025 opener

Excitement builds as the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) hosts the second round of the 2025 Bahrain Turf Series today.

The event, held as part of the Club’s 11th race of the season, features top horses, owners, and trainers from around the world.

The Bahrain Turf Series has elevated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s profile in global equestrian sports, attracting high-ranked international horses, trainers, and jockeys.

It also enhances the development of local racing organised by the REHC. The Series features 12 rounds held across separate racing evenings, with two rounds per evening during the racing season.

The first round of the Series took place on Friday, 20 December 2024, during which the Bahraini horse Swift Asset won the first round, and the Irish horse Snellen claimed victory in the second round.

The Series rounds will continue until the final round in March 2025. The 11th race will feature eight rounds, including the third and fourth rounds of the Series.

The third round, competing for Al Dana Cup over 2,000 metres, includes 16 strong entries from local and international stables: Locander, Bond’s Boy, Merlin’s Beard, Majestic, Bleak, Gulmarg, Killybeg’s Warrior, Lion of War, Signalman, Snellen, Mr Alan, Elwasme, Box to Box, West Suffolk, Vegas Jack, and Soldier’s Empire.

The fourth round, Al Riffa Cup (sponsored by BBK), is a 1,200-metre sprint for Handicap (Imported) horses, featuring 18 contenders: Get It, Deep Intrigue, Jubilee Walk, Salvuccio, Mehmento, Thunder Moor, Inveigle, Jehangeer, The Parent, Nomadic Empire, Rocket Rodney, Spangled Mac, Grand City Hall, Wallbank, Squealer, Desert Cop, Kiwano, and Roman Dragon.

The Bahrain Turf Series continues to solidify the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position on the global horseracing map while enhancing the local equestrian Action from a previous event season.
