Bahrain Gears Up for 2025 Asian Youth Games

In a grand press conference held yesterday at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), officially announced Bahrain’s plans for the 3rd Asian Youth Games, scheduled to take place from October 22 to 31, 2025.

Speaking alongside His Highness was Faris Al Kooheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, who provided an overview of the event, stating, “We’re expecting 45 countries to compete in the 3rd Asian Youth Games – Bahrain 2025. With 21 sports, encompassing 26 disciplines and 207 events, this will be a spectacle of youth talent across Asia.”

A Source of National Pride

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed immense pride in Bahrain’s role as host for this prestigious event. “The 3rd Asian Youth Games is a testament to Bahrain’s rising stature in the world of sports,” he remarked. “Hosting an event of this magnitude is not only a great honor but also a reflection of our commitment to fostering a vibrant sporting culture and creating opportunities for young athletes. There is so much more to come from the Kingdom as we continue to elevate our presence on the global sports stage.”

World-Class Venues Await

The Kingdom is pulling out all the stops to ensure the success of the games. Key venues, including the iconic Khalifa Sports City, will host a variety of events. Bahrain’s infrastructure, spanning state-of-the-art facilities, accommodation, and medical services, has been meticulously prepared to provide a seamless experience for athletes, officials, and spectators alike.

Al Kooheji highlighted Bahrain’s readiness, stating, “Our facilities are world-class, and our team is dedicated to delivering an unforgettable event that not only showcases athletic excellence but also highlights the warmth and hospitality Bahrain is known for.”

The Sports Lineup

The 2025 Asian Youth Games will feature a diverse array of sports, ranging from traditional favorites like athletics, swimming, and basketball to emerging disciplines such as e-sports and teqball. The inclusion of weightlifting is a particularly proud moment for Bahrain, following the Kingdom’s successful hosting of the 2024 IWF World Championships.
