The countdown is over. Today, the DP World Tour – Bahrain Championship 2025 officially tees off at the Royal Golf Club. Yesterday, the grounds and venue were inspected to witness firsthand how Bahrain is readying itself for one of the region’s biggest sporting events.

A Venue Transformed

Designed by golf legend Colin Montgomerie, the 7,261-yard par-72 course has been sculpted out of the desert, blending natural beauty with world-class design. Over the past year, significant improvements have been made to key holes, the fairways, and the greens, with advanced Trackman radar technology integrated to enhance player performance analysis. “The feedback from last year’s event was overwhelmingly positive,” said an event official. “This year, we’ve taken it a step further to make sure every detail—from the fairways to spectator facilities—is at an even higher standard.”

Local delicacies

As the venue was explored, food stalls were seen serving everything from gourmet local delicacies to international favorites, catering to both casual spectators and seasoned golf fans alike. Additionally, an interactive fan zone has been set up, allowing visitors to test their own golfing skills, experience augmented reality simulations, and even meet some of the game’s rising stars.

Champions

On the competitive front, defending champion Dylan Frittelli is back to defend his title against a formidable field, including the likes of Thorbjorn Olesen, Jorge Campillo, and former Masters champion Patrick Reed. With the course expected to play fast and firm, players will need precision and strategic mastery to navigate its challenging layout. Speaking ahead of the tournament, Frittelli emphasized his excitement about returning to Bahrain: “It will be great to be back at the Royal Golf Club. I had such a great experience last year, and I can’t wait to challenge for the title again.”

With 132 players from across the globe, alongside their support teams and families, the event is expected to provide a significant boost to the tourism and hospitality sectors.
