Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, hosted over the weekend an action-packed fifth round of National Race Day, featuring two of the Kingdom’s premier circuit racing series.

Isa Ebrahim headlined the list of winners by securing a fantastic double in the Bahrain Touring Car Challenge (BTCC), while Mohamad Alzaidan and Fahad Algosaibi shared the spoils in the Bahrain Motorcycle Championship (BMC), taking victories in their respective classes.

Action in National Race Day was held along BIC’s 2.55-kilometre Inner Track. The event was organised by BIC in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation, the Circuit Racing Commission, the Bahrain Motorcycle Commission, and the Motorsport Marshals Club.

Ebrahim won both the meeting’s BTCC races but Moaaz Elzahrawi had earlier claimed pole position for the opening sprint. He had posted a best lap time of one minute 17.939 seconds during qualifying.

But in the opening event, Ebrahim was able to power ahead in his Honda Civic and take the chequered flag after 15 laps in 22:00.539. Elzahrawi followed as the runner-up 21.233s behind, while Ali Baqer came a distant third with a 49.781s gap.

Baqer was also the winner of BTCC Junior class as all three podium finishers were behind the wheel of their respective Civics.
