A Quiet Launch with Big Ambitions
True Gamers, a major player in MENA’s esports scene, made a bold move on International Women’s Day, unveiling a competition that could reshape opportunities for women in the GCC. Speaking exclusively to The Daily Tribune (TDT), insiders revealed details of the initiative, launched on March 9, to find a female entrepreneur in the Arab world to lead eQueens Villa—the world’s first elite, women-only esports and digital club. This isn’t a flashy gesture but a deeply intentional step to carve out space for women in a field where they’ve often been overlooked, all while weaving in the region’s cultural fabric.
A Space Designed for Women’s Dreams
The winner will oversee a groundbreaking hub, built from the ground up by True Gamers with contractors, top-tier tech, and a ready-to-go business model. It’s a sanctuary with high-end gaming stations, zones for VR and NFT exploration, content creation studios, a stylish café, co-working areas, a boutique for tech gear, and wellness spaces. Industry-led workshops will round out the offerings, creating a launchpad for women eyeing careers as streamers, digital creators, or Web3 innovators. “This is about sparking real change, giving women a place to innovate and lead,” Ana Veremyova, True Gamers’ CEO and co-founder, told TDT, her words carrying a quiet intensity. “We want the Arab region to set the global standard for esports.”
Tapping into a Regional Surge
The GCC’s digital landscape provides fertile ground. With Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar investing heavily, the region—home to over 65 million gamers—is fast becoming a gaming powerhouse, backed by government support for tech initiatives. Women in the GCC are increasingly stepping into roles in streaming, NFTs, and the metaverse, often as entrepreneurs. eQueens Villa leans into the Arab affinity for exclusivity, drawing women ready for luxury experiences and mentorship from global leaders. True Gamers’ founders are open to sharing more, hinting at a story that’s only beginning to unfold in the region’s tech journey.
