Manchester United has confirmed a 5% increase in season ticket prices for the 2025-26 campaign, marking the third consecutive year of price hikes as the club grapples with financial challenges.

The rise, which excludes under-16 ticket holders, will see men’s match tickets increase by an average of £2.50 ($3.25) per game. Chief Executive Omar Berrada acknowledged fan frustration, especially given the team’s poor form, but said the move was necessary to offset rising operating costs.

"We understand that any price increase is unwelcome," Berrada said. "However, it would not be right to keep prices unchanged while costs continue to rise."

United currently sits 13th in the Premier League, and the price hike comes amid mounting fan discontent. Thousands protested against the club’s ownership earlier this month, while the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) expressed disappointment, arguing that a price freeze would have been a "powerful message" of unity in difficult times.

Despite cutting 150 to 200 jobs last month, United recently announced plans for a £2 billion, 100,000-seater stadium, which would be the largest in Britain. Meanwhile, the club’s total debt, including £300 million in outstanding transfer fees, exceeds £1 billion.
