Bahrain's Under-23 side have progressed to the semi-finals of the WAFF Championship in Muscat, following a dramatic 2-1 win over the United Arab Emirates.
The match began disastrously for Bahrain, conceding within the opening minute.UAEcapitalised on a defensive error by Mahmood Abdulla. However, Bahrain responded in the first half, Saood Ebrahim levelling the score.
The second half proved to be a tightly contested affair, with both sides searching for a decisive goal. The breakthrough arrived late in the match when Bahrain were awarded a penalty. Abdulrahman Al Khayyat converted from the spot, securing their spot in the final four.
The result means Bahrain will now face the winner of the preliminary round fixture between Oman and Saudi Arabia in the semi-finals.
