Brisbane’s preparations for the 2032 Summer Olympics have taken a major step forward with the announcement of a new 60,000-seat stadium to be built in inner-city parkland, alongside a state-of-the-art national aquatics centre.

Queensland State Premier David Crisafulli unveiled the revised venue plan on Tuesday, marking the third iteration of the city’s Olympic infrastructure strategy. In addition to the main stadium, a 20,000-seat boutique venue will be constructed at the Brisbane Showgrounds, while some events will be relocated to regional Queensland to distribute the Games’ economic and sporting impact.

"The focus is on delivering world-class facilities that will serve Queensland long after the Olympic flame has been extinguished," Crisafulli stated, emphasizing the long-term benefits of the new infrastructure.

The decision to build on parkland has sparked debate over environmental impact versus legacy benefits, but organizers maintain that sustainability and community engagement remain central to the planning process. With just seven years to go, Brisbane’s Olympic vision is steadily coming into focus.
