As Formula 1 heads to Suzuka for the Japanese Grand Prix, Lando Norris has teased an electrifying street racing short film, reminiscent of the viral videos Lewis Hamilton has released in previous years. Partnering with Monster Energy and his media company Quadrant, the McLaren driver appears to be embracing the high-octane, neon-lit aesthetic of Tokyo Drift culture.

Hamilton pioneered this trend in 2022, when he took a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R for a late-night spin through Tokyo’s streets, performing donuts in an empty parking lot until the gearbox gave out. Despite backlash over alleged speeding and rental car damage, he continued the tradition, releasing a sequel featuring a Bayside Blue R34 against the stunning backdrop of Tokyo Tower.

Now, Norris is taking the torch, piloting a heavily modified Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 alongside other custom-built street machines. The teaser showcases him grinning behind the wheel as city lights reflect off the car’s externally mounted oil cooler, adding to the raw, underground racing feel.

Riding High in the Championship Battle

Norris’ cinematic teaser comes as he enjoys the strongest season of his F1 career. The Bristol-born driver currently leads the championship standings with 44 points, sitting eight points ahead of four-time Red Bull champion Max Verstappen. McLaren has been in top form, securing back-to-back victories—Norris winning in Australia and Oscar Piastri triumphing in China.

As the Japanese Grand Prix approaches, Norris remains the favorite to extend his lead, but all eyes will also be on Yuki Tsunoda, who steps into a Red Bull seat for the first time after replacing Liam Lawson. Racing in front of his home crowd, Tsunoda will be eager to make a statement.

With adrenaline on and off the track, Norris is proving he’s not just a title contender—but a showman too.
