Bahrain’s beach handball squad touched down in Muscat yesterday, ready to take on the region’s best at the third GCC Beach Games. With history on their side and a point to prove, the team is gearing up for a fierce campaign on Omani sand.
Led by former senior national team player Bilal Basham, Bahrain’s 10-man squad is determined to reclaim their place at the top. They famously won gold in the inaugural GCC Beach Games in 2010 but fell short in the 2015 edition, settling for silver after a narrow final defeat to hosts Qatar. Now, with the tournament kicking off, redemption is firmly on their minds.
The squad, which includes Moayed Sameer Shuaib, Sayed Ahmed Marzooq, Ali Mahmood Mohamed, Adam Isa Alnasheet, Mahdi Ali, Ali Abdulhasan Alhayki, Komail Fuad Ali, Abdulla Radhi Alzaimour, and Ali Ghassan Aryash, completed their final training sessions before departure and will now finetune their tactics ahead of their opening match.
With the official opening ceremony set tomorrow, Bahrain’s campaign begins amid a larger spectacle of regional sport. Eight disciplines, including beach soccer, athletics, and sailing, will see more than 300 athletes from six nations competing for medals.
For Bahrain, though, all focus is on the sand courts. With a proud legacy in beach handball, the team knows what it takes to win—now, it’s about delivering.
