As part of Bahrain’s preparations to host the 2025 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix from April 11 to 13, the Ministry of Works has announced the full readiness of the Kingdom’s road and sanitation networks. The announcement comes as the nation gears up to welcome motorsport fans from around the world to one of Formula 1’s most anticipated events, held at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).
In collaboration with BIC, the Ministry has implemented a number of infrastructure enhancements to ensure smooth traffic flow and the highest levels of public safety. Notably, an additional 1,762 parking spaces have been constructed to boost the overall parking capacity at the circuit.
To further enhance pedestrian movement and safety, technical support was also provided for the construction of three temporary pedestrian bridges in the vicinity of the track.
Preparatory work also included the repainting of road lines, curbs, and parking spaces; marking of gravel parking areas; maintenance and cleaning of traffic lights and signage; and the provision of traffic cones and necessary equipment for temporary road closures. These efforts were carried out in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic at the Ministry of Interior, particularly on roads surrounding the circuit.
In terms of sanitation infrastructure, the Ministry has ensured the efficiency of both the sewage and rainwater drainage systems. Drainage openings along Bahrain Bay Avenue have been thoroughly cleaned, and full functionality of the network has been confirmed. Preventive maintenance was also carried out at nearby pumping stations, with backup power generators installed to guarantee uninterrupted operation throughout the event.
The Ministry has deployed round-the-clock field teams to address any potential emergencies that may arise during the race weekend. These teams will operate in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure a swift and effective response.
The Ministry of Works calls on all road users to follow traffic safety guidelines and cooperate with authorities to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure the safety of all attendees during the global event.
