Pepe Marti delivered a sensational performance in the 2025 Formula 2 Sprint Race at the Bahrain International Circuit, coming from 11th on the grid to take a stunning victory. The Campos Racing driver battled through a chaotic race to finish ahead of Richard Verschoor and Joshua Durksen, with less than a second separating the top two.

The race, part of the support action for the Bahrain Grand Prix, featured intense racing and a number of interruptions that shook up the order, including two safety car periods.

Beganovic and Durksen Exchange the Lead

Dino Beganovic, starting from second, quickly found himself in the thick of the action, passing pole-sitter Joshua Durksen on lap 11 after a bold move into Turn 4. However, Durksen wasn’t finished, and a safety car restart on lap 18 allowed him to retake the lead from Beganovic.

As the race approached its final stages, Marti showed his racecraft, making crucial overtakes to move into second on lap 22. In the final lap, he made his move on Durksen, powering past to take the lead and the win.

A Tumultuous Race with Safety Cars and Strategic Pitting

The race was far from straightforward, with multiple incidents bringing out the safety car. Sebastian Montoya triggered the first safety car on the opening lap, spinning out of contention at Turn 8, and Max Esterson's retirement on lap 16 brought out a second safety car, further complicating the race. Several drivers used the interruption to pit for fresh tyres, setting up a dramatic sprint to the finish.
