Strong Turnout from Young Bahrainis
Bahrain’s efforts to develop local talent in horse racing have received a boost with the graduation of 30 apprentice jockeys from the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club’s national training programme. The 2024–2025 course, held at the Bahrain Academy of Riders, drew wide participation from young Bahrainis of both genders, underlining the sport’s growing appeal.
Intensive Five-Month Programme
Over the course of five months, the trainees underwent rigorous practical and theoretical training covering the fundamentals of horse racing. The sessions were delivered by a team of expert coaches and lecturers, aiming to prepare participants for the demands of professional racing.
UK Bound: Next Phase of Development
Standout performers from the programme will be nominated for an elite summer training programme at the British Racing School in the United Kingdom next year. The selection process will be overseen by a dedicated committee from the Jockey Support Fund, based on performance criteria.
Growing Success of the Academy
Officials say the Bahrain Academy of Riders has seen increasing interest, with graduates already achieving strong results in the local racing circuit. Many have secured podium finishes throughout the 2024–2025 season—highlighting the academy’s growing impact.
