Vidhu Mittal claimed victory in the Consolation Bowl at Awali Golf Club, while Shuvendu Bakshi secured the Winners Cup as the club’s competition season drew to a close. The Consolation Bowl is traditionally the final trophy event of the season, offering a last chance for members who haven’t won a main prize to achieve victory, while previous season winners compete for the Winners Cup.

Rising temperatures added an extra layer of difficulty to the competition, with some players opting to sit out. Maintaining a good pace of play was crucial to limit exposure to the sun and heat, and players were reminded to stay hydrated and replenish energy levels with water, energy bars, bananas, and salts.

Shuvendu Bakshi demonstrated consistent form, balancing triple bogeys with well-played pars to finish with a net 67. This score was enough to secure the Winners Cup, edging out Abdulrahman Abdulwahed Al Shaikh by a single shot.

The battle for the Consolation Bowl saw a tight finish. Despite a disappointing final hole, Vidhu Mittal’s strong performance throughout the round gave him a comfortable lead, ultimately winning with a net 67. He beat both Khalid Salem Al Aathem and Abdullah Mubarak Al Jowher by one shot. The best gross score of the day was achieved by Salem Khalifa Masood, who carded an impressive 69, finishing his round in style with an eagle on the 18th hole. The prizes were presented by Club Captain Steve Newall and Vice Captain Balbir Singh.
