Akeel, Butt win in Monday Golf
Mohammed Akeel and playing partner Iftikhar Butt (24 points on count back) narrowly won the penultimate competition of the six-week-long Porsche Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club.
Ronan Smith and Sebastian Woodrow (24) took second place for the second consecutive week, while Mike Brightmore and Jamie Bowen (22 on count back) came in third. Nearest the pin side contests on holes 12 and 16 were won by Khalifa Daij and Yousif Janahi respectively.
With just one competition left to play in the series, the battle for the overall title will be close.
Ali Al Kowari and Yousif Janahi (9 points) are currently on top of the leader board with 9 points, while three pairs of competitors sit just one point behind on 8.
Over 30 golfers took part in the Rainbow Challenge tournament.
The evening was rounded off with a prize presentation ceremony in the Club’s Members’ Lounge where Sohail Singh, the Royal Golf Club’s Tournament Coordinator, was on hand to present the prizes on behalf of Porsche Centre Bahrain.
The final competition of the current series is next Monday and is a nine-hole competition also open to non-members and tees off with a shotgun start at 6.30pm.
