Wildlife protection decrees hailed

First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Athletics Association HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa paid tribute to His Majesty the King for his support to the national heritage by taking up sports like equestrian and hunting with falcons and by issuing decrees to protect wildlife.

He also lauded the efforts of HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, SCYS Chairman and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa in this regard. 

He praised the initiative of Shaikh Nasser in launching Bahrain Falcons and Hunting Competition, stressing its role in preserving Bahrain’s customs by giving the Bahraini and GCC youth the opportunity to compete in heritage contests.

The Falconry Championship gets underway tomorrow. It features more than 1,500 participants including 600 from Bahrain and rest from other GCC countries. It concludes on February 6. On the sidelines of the Falconry competition, the next four Saturday’s will feature Arabian Horse Racing concluding on January 30.

Bahrain Sports Channel will be giving live coverage of these traditional national sports events.

The championship is organised in cooperation with Nasser Bin Hamad Foundation.
