Sports courses lined up
The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has lined up five sports courses this month, the first of which commences tomorrow.
These courses are organized by the Sports Training and Development Centre, which is under the umbrella of the BOC, in cooperation with the Education Ministry’s Physical Education, Scouting and Girls Guidance.
According to cente director Nabel Taha, a total of 150 physical education teachers of different sports expected to take part in these courses, which are due to conclude on January 21.
The first course, which teaches the basics of basketball, will see 30 participants attending sessions to be staged at Al Khansa Primary Girls School. It will be conducted by veteran Bahraini basketball coach Salman Ramadan.
More courses will be organized later this month, including one on table tennis basics that will be presented by national coach Hamad Buhiji at the Bahrain Table Tennis Association premises.
Al Ma’arefa Secondary Girls School will host the third course of the month, which focuses on badminton basics and is supervised by Rashdan Farhan.
Bahrain Athletics Association board member and former Arab athletics champion Ruqaya Al Ghasra is to conduct a course on athletics basics for women’s physical education teachers at Salahuddin Primary Boys School.
The fifth and last course will teach the basics of athletics for men’s physical education teachers, to be presented by Mohammed Bakhsh, at the National Stadium Conference Hall.
