BOC secretary-general ‘pleased to open Asian handball event’
Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said he was pleased to be deputised by His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to inaugurate the 17th Asian Men’s Handball Championship in Bahrain.
The event runs until January 27 with some of Asia’s best handball teams vying for the tournament trophy and a place in the next year’s World Cup in France.
Askar commended the arrangements made the organizing committee, headed by Bahrain Handball Association president Ali Ishaaqi for the opening ceremony, which was very well organised.
The BOC general secretary welcomed other teams from across the continent in this major handball championship, and praised the outstanding performance of the Bahrain team in their opening match with Lebanon.
He wished them team to continue their remarkable show as the tournament progresses and live to the expectations and aspirations of the Bahrain handball supporters.
