Dettori enjoys double

Three-time UK flat racing championship jockey Frankie Dettori won the fourth and fifth races for the prestigious HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cups in the 14th meeting of the season yesterday at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.

In the fourth race for locally bred three years and upwards over 2,000 metres and worth BD15,000, Dettori riding Knight And Day, owned by Al Nasseriyeh and trained by Allan Smith finished ahead of third favourite No Doubt owned by H and R Stables, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Brett Doyle.

Third place went to the second favourite Rocket Boy owned by Fawzi Abdullah Nass, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by UK professional Luke Morris with fourth place going to Brightsideoflife owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Allan Smith, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Tristan Normand.

The fifth race for imported three year olds and upwards, also won by Dettori was a repeat of last year as the favourite jockey and horse Bartack triumphed, who is owned by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa and trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti.

Coming in second place was the second favourite Field Of Fame also owned by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by Allan Smith and ridden Brett Doyle, with Maxwell owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and ridden by Alberto Sanna in third and Tonabrocky owned by Mohammed A Rahman Al Jassmi, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by UK professional Harry Bentley.
