Bahrain players win overall categories
Bahrain’s Badminton players won 11 of the 17 categories in the recently concluded four-day BKS Meenumix GCC Open Badminton Tournament 2016 at the Bahrain Keralyeea Samajam (BKS) Diamond Jubilee Hall premises in Segaiya, The tournament featured more than 300 participants from five GCC both male/female divided into various skill levels playing for U$5,000 in prize money.
Bahrain players won first place in the three Premier events, with top seed Heri Setiwan defeating UAE’s second seed Mohammed Munawer 21-18, 18-21, 21-14 in men’s singles, then top seeds Setiwan and Jaffar Ebrahim beat second seeded Imam Adi Kusuma and Mohammed Munawer of the UAE 21-23, 21-11, 21-18 in men’s doubles, then Setiwan claimed a triple title success as he and Jayashree S Nair the top seeds were victorious 21-16, 21-14 against second seeded UAE pairing of Mohammed Munawer and Teena Mary in the mixed doubles.
