GT3 springs into action in Dubai

Manama : Preparations for the penultimate round of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East got underway yesterday in blistering fashion as drivers returned to the Dubai Autodrome for practice ahead of a third back-to-back UAE race weekend. Round 5 races into action today before returning to Bahrain for the series finale in just two weeks with everything to play for.

Bahraini driver Jaber Al Khalifa tops the driver standings in the bronze category and has been a consistent performer across the season and has his eyes firmly set on glory heading into the final two rounds of season 7 and to be crowned champion on home soil in Bahrain early next
month.

Two solid performances in Dubai this weekend would push him closer to making that a reality and after clocking the fastest time in practice yesterday in the bronze category, he is feeling confident.

Speaking ahead, Jaber  said, “The speed is good after practice and I am happy with the way I am performing out there on the track. The main focus is to secure the championship for Bahrain and gain as many points as possible in the next two rounds. It is important for me to be consistent in my performances for Team Bahrain. Winning the bronze category will be the achievement of a lifetime for me and hopefully I can do that in my home country in the next round!”

The penultimate round of the Challenge Middle East takes place today at the Grand Prix Circuit of Dubai Autodrome, with each race consisting of 12 laps of the 5.39KM track.

As Season 7 of the region’s leading one-make series enters its final stages, the provision of a platform for local racing talent to take developing steps in their careers has once again been a hallmark of the series.
