BOC celebrates 15th anniversary of the NAC

Manama : Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the National Action Charter (NAC) on Saturday which was organised in cooperation with the Gulf University as part of the committee plan to promote community partnership with various national organisations and institutions.

Supreme Council for Youth and Sports member, BOC member and Bahrain Table Tennis Association president Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa patronised the day-long celebration, held under the theme “Our charter… is our future”.

The event was split into two sessions, with an open walkathon in the morning activities at Isa Town Sports City in Riffa. Late on, the Gulf University hosted the remaining events - football, athletics, badminton, table tennis, short-distance running races and physical fitness in Sanad.

A closing session of the festival also took place at the Gulf University where Shaikha Hayat gave the opening remarks and followed by a short film prepared by the Gulf University on the event programme. Gulf University acting president Dr Muhanned Al Mashhadani gave a speech on the achievements achieved by the Kingdom during the era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Shaikha Hayat, along with BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, Gulf University president Dr Mona Al Zayani and other top invitees, honoured members of the national handball team on reaching the 2017 World Championship in France. The awarding ceremony then took place to honor the winners of all competitions.

A special exhibition was also staged at the venue to promote this year’s edition of the Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Scientific Research Award in the field of sports, being conducted by the BOC.
