BOC honours cycling team
Manama : Bahrain’s national cycling team were given special awards for their results at the GCC Championships held in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, recently when they clinched nine medals in total, including three gold, four silver and two bronze, to finish second overall behind UAE.
The competition saw the best riders from the region battle it out in a number of races in different age categories.
Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar handed over awards to team members at Isa Sports City gym in Riffa, in the presence of Bahrain Cycling Association president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Askar commended the outstanding results of the team at this major regional event and Shaikh Khalid expressed his pride for results achieved.
The awarding ceremony was attended by BOC board member, Woman’s Sport Committee chairwoman and president of the Bahrain Table Tennis Association Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.
