Moroccan star to perform live on Bahrain GP weekend

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), "The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East", has announced that Moroccan artist Saad Lamjarred has been added to the line-up of performers for this year’s Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
Lamjarred, who is renowned for his unique voice and musical style, will be performing live on March 31, the Thursday night of the race weekend.

Lamjarred joins an all-star cast of world-class musicians already signed up for the Grand Prix. All those with tickets to the weekend will be able to attend the concerts free of charge.

Lamjarred is one of the most popular artists in the Arab world today. Raised by two leading artists and growing up in an environment where art was a main topic in his daily life, Saad naturally developed a passion for music and theatre and eventually was admitted to the National Music Conservatory in Rabat.

In 2007, he participated in Arabic singing show "Superstar" and won the heart of millions of followers with his talent and wonderful performances. He ended as a finalist and it was only a beginning to a conspicuous path as he continued towards his dream.

In 2009, Lamjarred released his first single "WAADINI" with a music video shot in California. He continued to enrol success after success with "SA3A SA3IDA", "LMIMA", "3ZIZ OU GHALI" and "SALINA SALINA", all of which were all commercial hits.

He added a career in acting to his portfolio, and landed the lead role in serial "AHLAM NASSIM".

He released his first album in 2012, "WALA 3ALIK", and it was a huge success, fuelled by hit single "MAL HBIBI MALO". The record earned him more than 118 million views on YouTube, which was a first for a Moroccan song.

From there, his popularity continued to skyrocket and in 2015, another hit single "LM3ALLEM" earned him a Guinness World Record after 100 million views on YouTube within three months of release. His song eventually totalled over 240 million views, making it the first song in the Arab world to reach such a number.

Lamjarred is considered one of the most influential artists of his generation. Aside from being a contemporary singer and actor, he is an author, a composer and a song-writer.

His addition to this year’s line-up of artists continues the BIC tradition of signing only the world’s best to be a part of an all-encompassing entertainment package for the annual Formula 1 extravaganza.

This year’s desert race is the second round of the 2016 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. It will be the third successive year that action will be taking place under BIC’s state-of-the-art track lighting system, which will make for a unique spectacle that cannot be enjoyed anywhere else on the F1 calendar.

Tickets to the Bahrain Grand Prix continue to be available. They can be purchased for seating along BIC’s Main Grandstand, Batelco Grandstand, Turn One Grandstand, University Grandstands and Victory Grandstand. Tickets are being sold at the BIC stands in Bahrain City Centre and Seef Mall (Seef District), BIC’s official website www.bahraingp.com or by calling the BIC Hotline on +973-17-450000.
