India opt to bowl against Bangladesh in Asia Cup final

India's captain MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bowl first in the rain-hit Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament final against hosts Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.

The match was cut into a 15-over affair after rain coupled with gusty winds delayed the start for two hours.

Rain hit the stadium around 6:15pm (1215GMT), about 1:15 hours before the scheduled beginning of the match.   

Thousands of fans who spent hours in the queues to collect tickets for the match were drenched or forced to take shelter under the galleries due to the unexpected downpour.

A 20-minute power failure, which followed the rain, only made the matter worse.  

Hosts Bangladesh are hoping to cause a major upset in the final in Dhaka by spoiling favourites India's preparations for the World Twenty20, which starts next week. 

Bangladesh brought in paceman Abu Hider and all-rounder Nasir Hossain from their last match against Pakistan for Arafat Sunny and Mohammad Mithun. 

Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ashish Nehra returned for India after taking a break against the UAE on Thursday.  

Pawan Negi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harbhajan Singh made the way for the trio.
