Pacquiao makes colonel of Philippines army
Manila : Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has been made a Colonel in the Filipino army.
The Philippines’ eight-division world champion has completed his Commandant’s paper and accepted a military promotion.
Pacman – who is currently serving as Senator of the Philippines – revealed the news on his social media accounts.
The ring icon will dedicate his life full-time to politics once he finally retires from the brutal career he has carved out.
And his promoter – the famed Bob Arum – insists a nuch-hyped fight with boxing novice Conor McGregor would be another one-sided defeat for the UFC icon.
Arum said: “If we equate boxing with fighting – because I’m not talking about his ability as an MMA participant because he has been very good with that – Conor McGregor can’t spell fight.
“Mayweather carried him before he took him out. With Manny, it wouldn’t be a contest, it would be a money grab. Conor McGregor is not a boxer and does not know how to box.
“His stance is a stance of an MMA fighter who has to protect against kicks and take-downs. He is not competitive with any fighter, no matter how old that fighter is.
“He doesn’t know how to spell fight. He’s a great, great MMA artist. This is no knock on him.
“He’s a great attraction. But he cannot spell fight.
“The answer is no, I wouldn’t particularly look forward to doing a fight featuring McGregor and Pacquiao.”
