Tyson Fury comeback one step closer

LondonTyson Fury will know whether he will be allowed back in the boxing ring by the end of next week after a UK Anti-Doping Agency was confirmed to be starting proceedings this coming Monday.

Fury stands accused of providing an adverse sample and failing to follow procedure when testers arrived for a random sample.

The former heavyweight champion, who has not fought in over two years, has always vehemently denied the charges of breaking anti-doping rules and blamed the failed test on eating uncastrated wild boar.

Fury is back in training after his two-year absence and self-confessed battles with depression and cocaine use and is desperate to fight the biggest names in the game.

He has called out Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Tony Bellew just to name a few but is currently without a boxing licence because of the ongoing dispute over the UKAD hearing.

But he is now closing in on a potential comeback. Express Sport understands a joint panel involving UKAD and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) is set to convene on Monday.

The process is expected to take around five days, meaning Fury could have his verdict by the end of next week.
