Fareed, Daraj and Sultan top their groups as The Godfathers Tournament heads into finals

Ahmed Fareed, Shaker Daraj and Maricel Sultan each led four players from their respective groups into the third round of the 2019 edition of The Godfathers Tournament, currently being played at Funland Centre. It was a hotly contested second phase of play held late Thursday night, and after six games, only the leading quartet from each of the competition’s three groups was still alive to challenge for the overall title.

Funland owner and managing director Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa attended the evening’s events along with Funland general manager Adel Rasti and a large crowd of supporters. From Group A, Fareed was joined advancing into the next stage by Emerson Gotencio, Dante Tisdom, and Ahmed Almalki. From Group B, the quartet who were through included Daraj, Isa Khalid, Abdulla Almurbati and Mohammed Alansari; while from Group C, marching forward were Sultan, Ahmed Alansari, Leah Siruno, and Layla Janahi.

These bowlers next join the two others from each group who gained automatic berths in Round Three from the qualification phase. They include Yousef Falah and Fawaz Abdulla in Group A, Mustafa Qaed and Mohammed Mahmoud in Group B, and AJ Edwards and Hisham Mohammed from Group C.
