BOC’s fencing course begins

A course for fencing coaches got underway on Tuesday by Bahrain Olympic Committee’s (BOC) Bahrain Olympic Academy in cooperation with the Olympic Solidarity Programme, with 27 coaches taking part.

It is being held at the Bahrain Fencing Association premises, where a delegation from the academy attended part of the ongoing sessions, aimed at qualifying and preparing national coaches. Academy director Dr Nabeel Taha, joined by training and development head Mahmood Yateem and Olympic Solidarity manager Maryam Mardana, were briefed by Italian instructor Matto Scamarda on the programme of course, which will end on September 4.

Dr Taha asserted the BOC’s keenness to provide all training opportunities through the academy, or the Olympic Solidarity Programmes, to prepare different sports competencies. He noted that fencing is one of the Olympic sports that should receive significant support from the academy in an attempt to develop the game on the international level.
