The UAE team comprising Hussain Al Suwaidi, Harib Al Mansoori, Mahmood Al Attar, Shaker Ali Hassan and Nayef Eqab (6,087 pin falls, 202.9 average) clinched the gold medal in the men's team event yesterday on the penultimate day of the Seventh Men’s and Third Women’s Arab Bowling Championships at the Ozone Bowling Centre at the Sitra Mall.

This was the UAE's third gold of the championships with Al Suwaidi (1,265, 210.8) having the highest average (1,265, 210.8) for his team, while Al Mansoori (255) recorded the high game for the team and the third highest overall..

The silver medal was claimed by the Egyptian team comprising Tarek Helmy, Mohamed El Serafy, Ahmed El Khost, Ayman Ibrahim and Mahmoud Mazloum 6,047, 201.6) with Mazloum (259) top scoring for his team, while the bronze went to Qatar comprising Hazeem Al Muraikh, Jassim Al Muraikhi, Bader Al Deyab, Yousef Al Jaber, Mohammed Al Merekhi and Ghanim Aboujassoum (5,847, 194.9).

Bahrain comprising Ahmed Ameen Al Awadhi, Emad Hussain, Mohammed Al Mannai, Abdulla Abdul Karim, Ahmed Fareed and Ahmed Al Awadh, (5,599, 186.6) finished sixth out of seven teams.

Despite its lowly position, Bahrain's Fareed (1,282, 213.7) had the highest average, Kuwait's Khalid Al Dubayyan (279) the highest game and Egypt (1,092) highest team game score.
