Bahrain bag three bronze medals in military games
Bahrain added another three bronze medals to their tally yesterday in the seventh CISM Military World Games being held in Wuhan, China. Abraham Rotich, Nelly Korir and Noora Jassim all made it onto the podium of their respective events. Rotich clinched the bronze medal in a very tightly contested Men’s 800 metres final, where the top three finishers were all within four-tenths of a second from one another.
Rotich had a time of one minute 49.36 seconds. He was beaten only by Michal Rozmys of Poland, who won the gold, and Tuwei Cornelius of Kenya, who claimed silver medal. Korir won a bronze medal in the Women’s 800. She had a strong finishing time of 2:06.50. Nataliia Pryshchepa of Ukraine was first, while Liyana Waliwarsha from Sri Lanka followed. Jasim won Bahrain’s third bronze of the day in the Women’s Shot Put.
She had a best throw of 17.70 metres. Paulina Guba of Poland was the gold-medalist with an 18.22m throw, while Yang Gao of China was second with a 17.85m mark. Bahrain’s three bronze medals yesterday brought their overall count for the Games to eight medals. They have seven in Track and Field, including three gold and four bronze, and another bronze medal in Judo.
