Bahrain continue to excel in military games
Bahrain won three medals yesterday, including one gold, in the seventh CISM Military World Games being held in Wuhan, China. Aminat Jamal won a gold medal while Winfred Yavi clinched a silver and the women’s relay team a bronze. Jamal claimed her gold in the Women’s 400 metres Hurdles, which she won in a time of 55.12 seconds.
Anna Ryzhykova of Ukraine was the silver-medalist in 55.23s, while Vera Rudakova of Russia took the bronze in 55.66s. Jamal’s gold was Bahrain’s fourth of the Games. Yavi won her silver medal in the Women’s 5,000m. She completed the race in 15 minutes 15.93 seconds, narrowly behind winner Hilalia Johannes of Namibia, who had a mark of 15:14.23. Kimais Irene of Kenya was third in 15:29.74.
It was Yavi’s second medal in Wuhan. She previously struck gold in the Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase. The bronze medal was clinched by the quartet of Salwa Eid naser, Hajar Alkhaldi, Iman Eaas and Edidong Odiong in the Women’s 4x100m. They completed the race in 44.24s, just a second behind of gold medal winners Brazil who had a time of 43.29s.
China were the runners-up in 43.45s. Yesterday’s three medals brought Bahrain’s total haul in the Games to 11, including four gold, one silver and six bronze medals.
