Bahrain U-16 cricket team wraps up Oman tour
Bahrain National Under 16 Cricket Team returned after a tour of Oman and was received at the airport by Cricket Bahrain Association officials and parents. The team took part in Western Zone Asian Cricket Council Under 16 Cricket Tournament held in Muscat Oman, from 19th to 29th October.
The team was coached by the Coach of Bahrain National Team Azeem ul Haque with assistance from Taher Mohd Ansari (Physio) and Prachur Shukla (Assistance Coach). CBA Secretary-General Yasser Zafar Ali accompanied the team as the Team Manager. The team made it to the semi-final of the tournament after initial loss to UAE in their first match and then bouncing back to defeat Saudi Arabia and Iran.
In the semi-final, the team went down fighting on a turning pitch against the tournament Champion Sultanate of Oman. Team Manager Yasser Zafar Ali said, “This was a great learning experience for the boys and as per the future development plan of the CBA, the core of the team will be further developed under the guidance of CBA coaches. The team has the potential to achieve a higher result and win tournaments in the future.”
National Coach Azeem said, “There was a significant improvement in the performance after the loss in the first match and the team has shown resilience to fight and come back but the loss in the semi-final was due to some missed chances.” There were some noticeable performances by the team members such as opening batsman Aryan Kaul scoring 51 runs against Saudi Arabia and all-rounder Hanniel Robert taking 5 wickets for 17 runs and being adjudged Man of the Match against Saudi Arabia.
Team Captain Rishabh Ramesh took 4 wickets for 19 runs and scoring 14 runs not out to become Man of the Match against Iran. In the semi-final against Oman, Shashank Shekhar Shukla bowled 4 overs with 2 maidens and 2 wickets for 7 runs in a low scoring match.
