Three off in heated finale as Lecce rally for home draw with Cagliari
Serie A newcomers Lecce salvaged a 2-2 home draw against in-form Cagliari in on Monday in a game that flared up in the last 10 minutes, featuring a penalty for the hosts and three straight red cards.
The game was played at 2 pm GMT after heavy rainfall late Sunday forced its postponement in the southeastern town, Deutsche press agency (dpa) reported.
Joao Pedro put Cagliari ahead on the half-hour with a penalty kick.
The hosts' rally began when Cagliari defender Fabrizio Cacciatore was red-carded on 81 minutes for handling a goal-bound effort.
Gianluca Lapadula converted from the spot but was dismissed for clashing with goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who also received his marching orders.
Marco Calderoni levelled one minute into stoppage time with a shot into the far corner.
Cagliari remain fourth but are now two points behind Lazio, who won 2-1 at Sassuolo 2-1 on Sunday for a tally of 27 points from 13 games.
Lecce, on 11 points, sit one clear of the drop zone where sit Genoa (10) and SPAL, who drew 1-1 late Monday. SPAL are second last on nine points.
