Bahrain Club powers to Teams gold

Bahrain Club had twice the reason to celebrate following the latest evening of competition in the Bahrain Bowling Association League at Sitra Mall. Emerson Gotencio, Fawaz Abdulla, Ahmed Othman, Mohammed Moreed and Abdulla Abdulkarim joined forces to capture the Teams Event gold medal; while Gotencio added the All Events gold medal following their impressive display. The victorious quintet posted a team total of 6,429 pins over six games for an average of 214.3 pins per game.

Their overall high game was 1,200 in the fourth, which was also when Gotencio scored a perfect 300 – the only one of the contest. Gotencio was Bahrain Club’s top individual performer. He had a personal total of 1,456 pins for an average of 242.7. Abdulkarim registered their second-best score of 1,338 for a 223.0 average, while Abdulla had a 1,331 total and a 221.8 average.

Moreed chipped in with a 1,245 score and a 207.5 average, while Othman rounded out Bahrain Club’s scorers with counts of 1,059 and 176.5. Finishing as the silver-medallists were East Riffa’s squad featuring Ahmed Al Awadhi, Yousif Al Awadhi, Ahmed Fared, Ahmed Algaoud and Ahmed Abduljabbar.

They had a team total of 6,340 for a 211.3 average. Their high game was 1,130 in game number six. Taking the bronze were Manama Club, featuring Ahmed Rahimi, Emad Jahromi, Ali Almas, Jan Villanueva and Ahmed Alkhaja. They had a 6,155 total and a 205.2 average with a high game of 1,086. A total of eight five-member teams competed for a place on the podium.

The rest of the standings from fourth through eighth, respectively, featured Um Al Hassam, Isa Town, Al Hala, Riffa and Deaf Club. Following the completion of the Teams Event, Gotencio cemented his place on the top of the All Events standings with a total of 5,555 pins for a 231.5 average.

That score was the sum of his totals from the Singles (1,312), Doubles (1,366), Trios (1,421) and Teams (1,456) Events. Manama’s Alkhaja won the silver medal with a 5,368 total and 223.7 average, whereas Gotencio’s teammate Abdulkarim secured the bronze medal with counts of 5,327 and 222.0.
