BTA conducts mixed doubles tournament
Bahrain Tennis Academy (BTA) held the thirteenth edition of their Social Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament at the Dilmun Club, Saar. The one-day event, which specifically targets new and recreational players, was played with a slightly slower ball to give players more time to react.
In the preliminary rounds, teams competed in short matches against all other teams. At the end of the group stage the top four teams progressed to the semi-finals. In the play-off for third-place, Mohammed Gaith and Marianna Muursepp defeated Arsalan Iqbal and Lyn Barrie 7-6, 7-5 to claim the bronze medals.
Then, in the final between the top two teams, Jon and Julie Goodall overcame Samir Chiban and Kerri Smallwood-Darwish to claim the gold medals and the “BTA Torch” perpetual trophy with a 7-6, 7-1 victory, leaving Samir and Kerri to take home the silver medals.
