British woman makes history at darts world championship
Briton Fallon Sherrock made history on Tuesday as she became the first woman to ever win a match at the PDC [Professional Darts Corporation] World Championship in London.
The 25-year-old recovered from 2-1 down to beat Ted Evetts 3-2 in front of a jubilant crowd at Alexandra Palace in London, Deutsche press agency (dpa) reported.
"I'm absolutely over the moon, I can't believe I've just made history ... I'm so speechless, I'm just so so happy. I'm so proud of myself for what I've just done," she said after the win.
Sherrock was only one of two women who qualified for the sport's most prestigious event.
Japanese star Mikuru Suzuki had a chance beat the Briton to the feat on Sunday, but narrowly lost to James Richardson 3-2 after coming back from 0-2.
