ISB’s Vinay Varghese cruise into Badminton final

Vinay Varghese of the Indian School entered final in the Under 19 boys singles category of the ISB Brain Craft International Bahrain Junior Ranking Circuit 2020 on Saturday.

In an exciting semi-final Vinay beat Mathew K Cherian of ISB by 21-8,20-22 and 21-18. In another spectacular quarter final in Under 17 boys singles, Om Suhas Thaware of New Millennium School beat Chrsiten Yann by 15-9,13-15,15-13.

On Sunday semi-finals of 18 events with 34 matches are scheduled to start at 6.30pm. The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) in association with Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF) is conducting the major ranking tournament with an aim to develop the sport in the Kingdom.

The Junior Ranking Circuit 2020 will continue till January 27, 2020. The ranking will be given separately to boys and girls in the under 9,11,13,15,17 and 19 singles and doubles events. This is the first Badminton tournament to be held in the recently refurbished ISB badminton courts.

There are four well-lit badminton courts courts housed in the high ceiling Jashanmal auditorium with impact resistant flooring. The Junior Ranking Circuit will follow the laws of Badminton strictly. This tournament will be followed by other ranking events hosted by Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS), Indian Club, Philippines Club (PBG), Ebrahim Badminton Academy (EBA) and BBSF.

The top ranked players will be announced at the end of the year and they will be awarded during the Junior International Series 2020 in December 2020.
