Al Hidd storm into last four
AL HIDD stormed into the semi-finals of His Majesty the King’s Cup last night following a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Al Shabab.
The result earned Al Hidd a 4-2 win on aggregate in the two-leg match-up. Both teams ended the opening fixture deadlocked 1-1.
Al Shabab had a dream start to the game after Ali Jassim gave them the lead with a brilliant chip over the opposing goalkeeper in only the second minute of the contest.
Their celebrations were short-lived, however, as in the 26th minute Mohammed Faris scored the first of his two goals to level the proceedings.
He scored from close range. Faris completed his brace just five minutes later, heading the ball in off a corner kick.
That was enough to give Hidd a 2-1 advantage heading into the interval.
In the second-half, Senegal professional Mamadou Drame virtually sealed victory with a goal on a brilliant counter-attack in the 69th minute.
With this victory, Al Hidd joined Muharraq and Manama in the semi-finals. The last berth will be determined between Riffa and East Riffa, who ended their first-leg clash tied at 2-2.
