Manama set up a thrilling semi-final match-up with recently crowned league champions Al Ahli last night in this year’s Khalifa bin Salman Cup. Manama punched their tickets following a 76-68 win over last year’s Cup winners Riffa, while Ahli were victors over Bahrain Club. It is set to be a rematch of the league finals series, which was won by Ahli in a two-game sweep.
The other final four series is set to be between Muharraq and Al Hala. Both semis clashes are to be played in best-of-three format. They are scheduled to get underway on Friday with game one, while game two of each match-up will be on October 13. Game three, if needed, will take place on October 17.
In Manama’s victory last night, Polish professional Maciej Lampe scored 33 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to spearhead the winners, while Hassan Nowrooz contributed 13. Bahraini forward Mohammed Kuwayed scored 19 to pace Riffa in the loss, with American Josh Boone chipping in with 18. In yesterday’s other quarter-final, Ahli secured their semis spot after Bahrain Club did not show up for the contest. They forfeited the game.
