Stevie “Fast” Jackson of Bahrain1 Racing team, owned by His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, won on Sunday his second straight world championship in the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series.

Jackson secured the title in the final round of the 2020 National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) season, held at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the US.

Jackson ensured his world championship triumph in the meeting’s second elimination stage. He then went on to claim first place overall while leading his teammates in the top three for an all-Bahrain1 podium.

“When you have a season like this, there’s a lot of team owners that give up on you when you run as bad as we’ve been running,” Jackson was quoted as saying. “You have people that doubt you, but our Bahrain1 team was never not behind us. I did a decent job of driving today and this means a lot.

“The first one, I felt was easier, and this one, you had to earn it. That’s the ones that are the most special.”

In the second elimination run, Jackson faced off with Brandon Snider in a thrilling, winner-take-all match-up where he pulled off a dramatic victory with a pass of 5.776 seconds at 248.66mph in his supercharged Bahrain1 Racing Camaro. Jackson edged out Snider’s 5.787s time at 246.71mph by less than two feet, handing the championship to Jackson for the second consecutive year in exciting fashion.
Jackson went on to cap his season in style, beating Bahrain1 teammate and the round’s top qualifier Khalid Al Balooshi in the final elimination.

Jackson had a run of 5.789s at 247.47mph to claim a race victory for only the second time this year and 11th of his career.

Bahrain1’s Justin Bond was classified third overall after Jackson was dominant in his first world title run last year, clinching the championship even before the season-finale. This time, however, it was a much more challenging campaign, as six different drivers claimed wins.

Jackson finished the season with 501 points atop the Pro Mod championship standings. Snider followed with 470, while Al Balooshi, himself a former world champion, was third with 455.
