Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton hopes to return for the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi on Sunday after missing last week's Sakhir Grand Prix with a coronavirus infection.
"I've just been focusing on recovering and trying to get back in shape so I can get back in the car and race the final race in Abu Dhabi”, he said in a social media video.
Hamilton said he woke up feeling "great" and could train again after having what his team called minor Covid-19 symptoms.
Having tested positive for the coronavirus after the Bahrain Grand Prix, Hamilton went into quarantine and was replaced in the second part of the Sakhir circuit double-header by Williams drive George Russell.
The 22-year-old Russell led the Sakhir race until Mercedes made a pit stop error and a subsequent puncture ended his chance of victory.
Russell will deputise again for Hamilton if the Briton, who is yet to test negative, cannot race on Sunday.
